Golden Milk
For centuries, Ayurveda has relied on golden milk to help with improved digestion, circulation, clearer skin, joint health, and respiration. The ingredients in golden milk conjure Agni, or digestive fire, which can be effective for balancing excess kapha during cold winter months.
Turmeric's intrinsic nature enables it to elevate mood and increase cognitive function. Plus many drink this golden milk as a soothing bedtime beverage to get good sleep.
Nowdays many are steering away from dairy because of digestion issues and favouring nut milks, ideally golden milk is made on organic, unhomogenised cows milk to reap the medicinal benefits. Cows milk if sourced ethically can have many healing properties. If you have a severe dairy allergy best to stick to your “milk” of choice and look at strengthening your agni (digestive fire) to be able to absorb cows milk.
Recipe:
1 cup of preferably cows milk (organic and unhomogenised)
1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
pinch of black pepper
1 teaspoon of ghee
maple syrup to sweeten
Instructions:
Heat 1 cup of milk
add turmeric, ghee and black pepper bring to boil
remove from stove add maple syrup if desired.
